巴林顿·J.贝莱的《时间冲突》[28]中，描述了一个异乎寻常的观点：其宇宙大部分是死亡和静止的，只是偶尔各处会出现时间波动，泛起点点涟漪。故事的起点，是我们发现向前运行的时间即将撞上从未来倒退而来的另一个时间，这对两者来说都将产生灾难性的后果。伊恩·沃森的《超慢时间机器》带着它倒霉的时间旅行者慢慢地回到过去，年复一年，以便为其最终跃迁进入未来积累时间能量。让我微笑的另一个不同寻常的想法是史蒂芬·巴克斯特的《欢跃》[29]，文中的超级计算机用时间旅行组件将其计算结果转移到过去，这样能在短时间——实际上相当于零时间——内解决任意复杂的问题。
时间旅行故事的选集有许多，其中最大的和最新的一本是杰夫·范德米尔和妻子安共同编辑的《时间旅行者年鉴》[30]。最后，我想分享我最爱的一句话，它讲出了时间的神秘莫测，出自雷伊·康明斯的《金原子里的女孩儿》[31]：

戴维·兰福德
David Langford
（生于1953年），是英国作家、编辑和评论家，主要活跃于科幻领域。作为一名科幻作家，兰福德以同人小说闻名。他于2004年出版了小说选集《不同种类的黑暗》，收录三十六篇非同人短篇科幻小说，其中的选集同名故事 荣获了2001年“雨果奖”最佳短篇小说奖。
